Remote Cerebellar Hemorrhage after Supratentorial Meningioma Surgery

Abstract

|
Postoperative intracranial hemorrhage is a serious and often fatal complication. We report two cases with a remote cerebellar hemorrhage after supratentorial meningioma surgery, both with fatal complications. We speculate that immediate postoperative overdrainage of cerebrospinal fluid may accelerate displacement of the cerebellum and stretch the vessels around the lesions, resulting in a remote cerebellar hemorrhage. Awareness of this possibility and meticulous management are necessary to prevent these complications.
